The Draw Down Raffle takes place this evening, October 1, in the school cafeteria and the annual St. Francis School Fall Festival takes place tomorrow, October 2, on the school grounds. This is the largest fundraiser for St. Francis of Assisi Elementary School. Thank you who has supported this event and who has helped to put it together! / La Rifa “Draw Down” se lleva a cabo esta tarde, 1 de octubre, en la cafetería de la escuela y el Festival de Otoño se lleva a cabo mañana, 2 de octubre, en el terreno detrás de la escuela. Este evento es el más grande de recaudar fondos para la Primaria san Francisco de Asís. ¡Muchas gracias a todos por su ayuda y por su aportación!
The annual celebration of the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi is October 4th. We will have the blessing of animals on Saturday, October 2nd, a noon in front of the church during the Fall Festival. Bring your pet to receive this traditional blessing in honor St. Francis! / Also, this Sunday, October 3rd, please plan to join the Franciscan friars and lay (Secular) Franciscans as we commemorate the gentle passing (Transitus) of St. Francis of Assisi the evening of October 3, 1226. Our celebration will take place at 6 p.m. in the church. You are most welcome to come! / La celebración anual de la fiesta de san Francisco de Asís, 4 de octubre. Se celebrará la Bendición tradicional de animales el sábado, 2 de octubre a las 12 p.m. de frente de la iglesia durante el Festival de Otoño. Lleven sus mascotas u otros animales para recibir esta bendición al honor de nuestro patrono san Francisco. También, este domingo, 3 de octubre, se conmemorará el Transito del santo a las 6 p.m. en la iglesia. Falleció san Francisco muy tranquilamente al anochecer el 3 de octubre 1226. Usted está invitado a acompañar a los frailes y los franciscanos laicos (seculares) aquella tarde.
Next Sunday, October 10, is the parish and school commemoration of the 70th Anniversary of our foundation, in 1951! Please note that there will be two Saturday Vigil Masses on October 9, 4 p.m. in English and 6 p.m. in Spanish, especially for those who will not be able to join on Sunday. The ONLY parish Mass on Sunday, October 10, will be held at 12 p.m. (noon) at the Leflore County Civic Center on Highway 7. A festive dinner will follow. / El próximo domingo, 10 de octubre, es la conmemoración parroquial del 70º aniversario de la fundación de la parroquia y la escuela, que sucedió en 1951. Anoten, por favor, que se celebrará las misas vespertinas de la Vigilia el sábado, 9 de octubre, a las 4 p.m. en inglés y a las 6 p.m. en español, especialmente para aquellos que no podrán acompañarnos para la misa el domingo. Este será una misa bilingüe – la ÚNICA misa aquel domingo – y se llevará a cabo en el Civic Center del condado Leflore a las 12 p.m. (mediodía). Una cena festiva seguirá.
